Hi there, my name is Cecilia. I am a mental health blogger, podcaster, and mental health therapist. I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker and have been working in the community mental health field for 8 years now. I am a first-generation Latina college grad with a passion for mental health. I am also mom to a beautiful smart 6-year-old daughter and dog mom to 3 Goldendoodles.
One thing I've learned working in the mental health field is that nobody is perfect. We all have a past and our own barriers to overcome. I grew up in South Los Angeles in a low-income mostly Latino and African American community. This is what motivated me to become interested in helping others because I witnessed and experienced firsthand the struggles of having limited resources. Not knowing any better and the stigma of asking for help when the odds are against you.
My work in this field has led me to helping individuals, families, children, teenagers, and elderly clients. I've also had extensive experience working with psychotic disorders, dual diagnosis, and crisis intervention. I've been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Seeking Safety, and continue adding tools to my toolkit every day to be better able to serve my clients.
I want you to feel empowered and confident no matter what life throws your way. I want you to get to the point where you no longer need me as a therapist and are able to handle life challenges more productively. I am a believer that through our challenges we discover purpose and strength. I'm still on that journey and learning while I help others. Hopefully, we are able to connect. I look forward to getting to know you and getting through challenges together.
